Health & Safety

One thing before anything else, and we mean this sincerely: if you are ever afraid to use 3D Gloop!, just don't use it. Reach out, tell us why, and we will happily refund your order. No product is worth your peace of mind.

Respect the Sauce.

3D Gloop! is a professional-grade adhesive. Be mindful of it and treat it with respect, and it will behave like the lab-grade tool it is. The warnings on our labels go beyond what the Bureaucrats legally require, because we'd rather over-inform you than under-protect you. This page is the high-level overview... the full technical rundown lives in the Safety Data Sheets below, and the hands-on workspace walkthrough is in Guide 1 of the Knowledge Base.

Suit up like a Scientist. The full workspace walkthrough is in the Knowledge Base.

Safe Setup

The Big Four

1. Gloves (and the truth about them)

Wear nitrile gloves, ~6 mil (3 mil is the bare minimum, 9 mil is better). But here's the part most people don't know, so read it twice:

Gloves are temporary protection, not armor. Gloop!'s solvents slowly work their way through glove material. A glove doesn't stop contact with your skin... it slows it down and buys you time to react. Our solvents also absorb through intact skin more readily than most people assume, so that time matters.

  • Tiny droplets and small smudges: harmless. Carry on, wipe when convenient.
  • A wet drop or a proper spill on your glove: act now. Wipe it off quickly, or better yet (best practice), peel that glove off and put on a fresh one. Gloves are cheap. That's the whole point of them.

2. Ventilation

Moving air is your best lab partner. Set a fan blowing across your workpiece AND your face, and work in a big room, near an open window, outdoors, or in a fume hood if you have one. Never work in a closet or other enclosed space.

And know this quirk of human biology: your nose stops noticing the solvents while they're still in the air. No smell does not mean no vapor. Keep the fan running the whole session, not just until it "smells fine." Gluing a mountain of parts, or working somewhere ventilation is limited? A NIOSH-approved respirator is the move.

3. Eye protection

Wear safety glasses with side shields, or goggles. Every time. The same solvents that make Gloop! weld plastic make it seriously unpleasant in an eye, and bottles can spritz when opened carelessly (shake, settle two minutes, open AWAY from your face... it's the ritual for a reason).

If Gloop! does reach an eye: remove contact lenses, flush with plenty of cold water for at least 15 minutes, and get medical attention. And yes... ACTUALLY rinse for the full 15 minutes.

4. Workspace protection

  • Wax paper, waxy side up over your work surface. Cheap, disposable, Gloop!-proof. Skip the silicone mat (solvents can swell it), and never work directly on varnished wood or plastic furniture... the solvents will eat both, and no one at the lab can write you a note your household authority will accept.
  • Keep it uncluttered with paper towels in reach. Gloop! is practically a superfluid and spreads faster than you think, and bottles knock over exactly as easily as you fear.
  • Mind ignition sources. Gloop! itself is non-flammable, but its vapors and open flames, sparks, or very hot things are not friends. Bunsen burners off, heat guns parked, printer enclosures given some distance.
  • Kids, pets, and curious roommates: store Gloop! well out of reach, in its containment vessel (the retail box), upright, cool and dry, at or below 39°C (103°F). And to be thorough: no entity, biological or otherwise, should ever consume Gloop!. It is gluten free though. (Long story.)

First aid, the quick version

Full details live in Section 4 of each SDS. The short version:

If... Then...
Inhaled, feeling dizzy/drowsy/headachy Fresh air immediately. If symptoms persist or breathing is difficult, seek medical attention.
In eyes Remove contacts, flush with cold water 15+ minutes, get medical attention.
On skin Wash with plenty of cold water; remove contaminated clothing. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.
Swallowed Contact a physician or poison control immediately. Do not induce vomiting unless directed by medical personnel.

When in doubt: call. Poison control (1-800-222-1222 in the US) beats guessing, every time.
